Spanish and Portuguese Review is the graduate student journal of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). The AATSP is, naturally, a multilingual organization, and all of AATSP’s publications are proud to feature English, Spanish, and Portuguese. That means that as you read an issue of SPR, you will find articles in all three languages written by scholars who use those languages as first and second (and third, etc.) languages.

With our multilingual identity in mind, we often get questions from authors who are concerned about submitting work for publication in a language that is not their first language. The editors and reviewers at SPR are all multilingual people as well, so we know how stressful that can be! The good news is that we believe multilingualism and multilingual authors are a benefit to the journal and to our different fields, and we are excited that you want to submit a paper in a language that is not your first! Our review and editorial process is set up to be collegial and welcoming, and if your paper needs a little extra help to ensure that your message gets across clearly, we are happy to bring in extra editors to provide specific feedback as you craft your work.
