๐ Congratulations to this week’s author spotlight, Jessica Rodrigues Poletti!
Jessica’s review of Resisting Invisibility: Detecting the Female Body in Spanish Crime Fiction provides an efficient summary and well-written critique of Aramburu’s literary work which is dedicated to looking at the genre of crime fiction in Spain through a feminist lens. Rodrigues Poletti provides a thorough summary of the book, breaking down each chapter’s most prominent points, and highlighting the book’s main contributions to the field of Iberian studies and crime fiction as a study of literature and culture. She tethers the themes with the central focus of the role of the female body in Spanish crime fiction stories, and the impact of “gendering of the genre” (Rodrigues Poletti, 133) on the creation and importance of literary and social spaces.
