🎉 Enhorabuena to this week’s Author Spotlight, Will Hoadley-Brill! Will’s article explores and challenges the position of the Royal Spanish Academy (Real Academia Española, RAE) in regards to the use of inclusive language, especially highlighting language forms which prohibit the existence of non-binary forms. The author presents tangible cases of this linguistic conservatism in the Spanish-speaking world and offers ideas of potential benefits of an inclusive Spanish-speaking community. Will closes with a call to users of the Spanish language to consider a world without the influence of an oppressive and exclusive institution. Great work on a very timely, thoughtful, and well-written article!
