🎉 Parabéns to this week’s author spotlight, Matilde Barrote Silva!
Matilde’s article “Música de intervenção em Portugal: a ditadura e o papel da música” explores the role of music as a tool for social and cultural change in Portugal focusing on two pieces: “Tourada” (Santos 1973) and “A Cantiga é uma Arma” (Vieira 2014).

In 2021 Matilde defended her thesis entitled “Aspects of naturalism in contemporary European narratives: En la Orilla by Rafael Chirbes and Sérotonine by Michel Houellebecq” and participated in EJICOMP (https://buff.ly/3uTgmif) with a presentation on this subject. Matilde’s main interest lies within the transversal perspective that an area like comparative studies offers, and the possibility to establish connections between objects derived from different art forms and/or cultural contexts. Within this area Matilde is particularly interested in comparative literature, more particularly in the relation between science and literature and in the performative and spatial aspects of text, whether it is through a song, a novel, a movie or a photograph.
📝 Congratulations on a great article, Matilde!
