You don’t want to miss Stephanie Madison Schenck’s article “Integrated performance assessments: A review of the literature and steps to move forward” in our current issue (Vol. 5). Schenck’s piece provides an overview of the theoretical underpinnings of the IPA, but also addresses the practical reasons why teachers find it challenging to implement this type of assessment. As a side note–judging by the title–Schenck’s dissertation also seems like a must-read: “The Trump Effect and the Damage Done: A Mixed Methods Study Exploring Sociopolitical Hostility and Teacher Responses in Language Classrooms.” Check back for more author and article spotlights on Wednesdays!
